As the co-founder of DeepMind, Suleyman provides an insider's perspective on the unprecedented advancements and challenges AI technologies will bring in the coming decade. The book profoundly delves into how AI could either augment human capabilities or exacerbate existing societal problems, essentially serving as an enabler of both good and bad. "The Coming Wave" forces us to reflect on the fast-approaching technological revolution. It challenges us to think not just about the promises but also about the perils. As healthcare professionals, it is incumbent upon us to not only keep up with these advancements but also to ensure that they are implemented responsibly, ethically, and to the benefit of all.

The Global Rise of Unhappiness and How Leaders Missed It
In his book Blind Spot, Jon Clifton sheds light on the global rise of unhappiness and the impact it has had on society. The book delves into the research collected by Gallup and presents a comprehensive understanding of what has been causing unhappiness and how leaders can address it. Clifton’s findings show that happiness is not solely based on material wealth but instead is influenced by a variety of factors such as work, finance, community, physical, and social well-being.
In conclusion, Blind Spot provides a valuable insight into the rise of unhappiness and how it can be addressed by leaders. As healthcare professionals, it is essential that we understand the importance of caregiver and patient happiness and advocate for policies and programs that aim to improve the well-being of individuals.
What Got You Here Won't Get You There
The book offers practical advice and techniques for breaking bad habits and adopting new, more effective behaviors. Goldsmith identifies 20 common behaviors that can hinder our success, including failing to listen, taking credit for others' work, and not expressing gratitude. He then provides strategies for overcoming these habits and replacing them with more effective behaviors, such as setting clear goals, seeking feedback, and being accountable for our actions. These strategies can be particularly useful for healthcare professionals looking to advance in their careers and make a positive impact on patient care.
In Section Three: How We Can Change For The Better, Goldsmith discusses the importance of seeking feedback and being open to change in order to achieve success. He also introduces the concept of "feedforward", which involves seeking guidance and advice on how to improve in the future rather than focusing on the past. This can be especially valuable for healthcare professionals, as the field is constantly evolving and it is important to stay up-to-date and adapt to new developments.
Built to Last: What differentiates visionary companies?
Built to Last is a must-read if you are an active manager at any level for a department, company or group of people. The book summarizes the findings of a six-year investigation into the causes of enduringly great companies. The book investigates 18 unique and venerable firms to determine what has contributed to their decades-long, and in some instances, almost two-century-long, success. This ground-breaking analysis shows the modest, but motivating, distinctions that distinguish these creative organizations from their less successful counterparts.
It is a challenging job to create and manage visionary companies or departments. It is not the desire to create comfortable work environments, however it is important to create the culture which will teach resilience and work discipline for the today’s and future employees.
We should also not forget one other point, visionary companies could only last with level 5 leaders and here let’s remember what the level 5 leader is! Humility, humility, humility…
The Calling – Why Healthcare Is So Special
Healthcare is a wonderful journey that is all about people. Quint Studer wrote a fantastic book that explains in depth how to set up a healthcare organization, how to select and prepare the best staff, and how to maintain employee and patient satisfaction.
This was one of the books I read in a couple of days and enjoyed reading since I found someone who described my daily work experience. After reading this book, you will feel as if you knew Quint for years. I highly recommend especially the audible version of the book, read by Quint.
Who sets the culture? Founder or CEO?
Taking over the company after years of management by the founder is not an easy undertaking. Bill Gates started Microsoft, and the company's growth slowed some years later. It was time to name a CEO. The CEO's job was to revitalize the company rather than re-establish it. Satya Nadella took on a challenging task and refreshed the culture without altering the DNA. The book Hit Refresh outlines all of these phases and gives numerous insights regarding this difficult transformation.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella thinks that the goal of innovation is to assist people in overcoming obstacles. He's seen it happen with his son's cerebral palsy and his daughter's learning handicap, pushing them past their limits. Everyone benefits as a result of this.
