Excited to resume in-person academic programs.
We used to manage all academic programs through virtual meetings. It was convenient to attend from home, but we were unable to focus on discussions and provide effective presentations as we would at in-person events.
Finally, in-person events are returning. Thanks to Prof. Dr. Basset Essawy’s management and organization, we had the 22nd update meeting for nephrology, metabolic disorders, and transplantation today. It was an honor to meet with peers as well as the legend Prof. Dr. Faisal Shaheen, the Middle East's father of nephrology.
In my address, I emphasized our group's role as thought leadership. In 1984, Fakeeh Care Group provided the first kidney transplant. Our main hospital, Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah, continues to uphold traditions from our early days. Prof. Shaheen had left the occasion and was on his way to the airport to handle another transplant when he arrived in Jeddah today. I've also urged nephrologists to help other colleagues raise their nephrology awareness so that patients may get the proper therapy sooner.
The program concluded with a certificate ceremony, and I had the opportunity to meet with various colleagues.
