Healthcare Workplace in Metaverse

The metaverse is a parallel world or visual representation of reality that is created by combining reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), or mixed reality (MR) technology with artificial intelligence (AI). A combination of these technologies is expected to help healthcare professionals in a variety of ways in the healthcare sector. Coming metaverse services will have a huge impact on medical training, surgical procedures, and patient management.

Unhindered by the siloed structure of most of the current healthcare system, healthcare providers will be able to provide more integrated treatment plans and packages due to the convergence of metaverse's fundamental technologies. It would be easier to determine the underlying causes of disease if practitioners could immediately share information.

Many aspects of healthcare delivery will undoubtedly be influenced by the potential provided by the metaverse, but it will not be a replacement for human labor. Metaverse will be a technology that assists healthcare practitioners in improving care efficiency and accuracy. Because the workplace will undergo profound changes, we must prepare how to manage employee engagement in these digital times. Engagement in the health sector has a significant influence on patient outcomes, safety, and management, and this will not alter in the metaverse.

I was privileged to attend the Future of Work event held at Meta Dubai. Hearing projections for the future and case studies of the most effective employee engagement strategies was inspiring. Meta has already begun developing concepts for connecting digital teams regardless of distance and absence of shared office space. We have addressed how to communicate the company's internal message to huge healthcare teams via applications and how to keep teams engaged via social media such as texts, live video messaging, and documents. Future employee engagement tools will allow for two-way, real-time contact between employees and management.

It will be exciting times in future, however human workforce requirement will not change. Healthcare leaders should continue working in the same way for the engagement initiatives regardless having their teams physically or via VRs in the clinics.
